HEADS UP DFT MEMBERS! THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!
Even though we are meeting almost daily, the current contract negotiation situation is moving at a snail’s pace. The DPS THINKS YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR JOBS, WAGES AND BENEFITS AND/OR OUR STUDENTS. They are CONDUCTING BUSINESS AS USUAL. Look at the attached FACT SHEET and you will see what they are proposing. So we are giving you the “heads up.” Wherever you are – whatever you’re doing – we need you to join us in a show of SOLIDARITY.
WHEN: Wednesday, August 3, 2005
10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon
WHERE: The Fisher Building
3011 West Grand Boulevard
Detroit, MI
WHAT: Send a message: The District must bargain in good faith and keep the negotiation process moving forward.
We want schools to start on time this fall. If the District continues to drag its feet during negotiations, a second rally will be held at the August 17, 2005 school board meeting. The District has been known to cancel or change the time and location of the school board meeting when they know that the DFT is on the march.
Go to the DFT Web site for a location and time announcement for the school board meeting or call the DFT hotline. The Web site address is www.dft231.com and the DFT hotline can be accessed by dialing (313) 875-3500 and choosing option “8.”
These rallies will be cancelled if a tentative agreement is reached.
In solidarity,
